Key responsibilities
- Assist Global Credit Lead in taking responsibility of the overall credit risk of the portfolio of the Country/Countries with the objective of keeping the level of impairment to the minimum, whilst enabling the Trade Finance team to achieve the budgeted figures.
- Responsible for assessing and evaluation of Credit Risk of Trade Finance customers.
- Responsible for recommending and presenting Credit Applications with appropriate rationale, for decision by the Credit Committee.
- Interact with the different teams and stakeholders, including the Trade Finance Sales team and ensure that all requisite information for the credit analysis is obtained.
- In conjunction with the Trade Finance Sales team, ensure that an annual review of the credit exposures on the Client is completed.
- Analyse and understand the sectoral key success factors/ risks that could impact their business/ financial performance.
- Understand the business drivers and assist in design of suitable parameters/ model that would facilitate the credit/ business evaluation
- Be abreast of latest developments Read/ research secondary sources/ news to understand the developments in the business of the customer and evaluate their impact.
- Understanding of financial statements and local regulatory requirements
- Ability to work with team (even in locations outside of Hong Kong/China)
- Ability to face the regulator and address concerns in the event of any regulatory issues on the trade finance credit assessment.
- Managing the reporting requirement to the Board and local regulator with support from global back office teams
We are looking for
Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Chartered Accountant /MBA in Finance or an equivalent qualification
- Experience: 10-15 years' experience including adequate experience in managing and evaluating credit risk of Corporates in a Bank or Credit rating company or any other lending institute. Experience in working for global audience and in evaluation of wide spectrum of Corporates, including large, medium and small segments.
Skills
- An analytical mind that is able to link/ relate to and analyze disparate information.
- Ability to work on statistical /mathematical credit models and develop them.
- Familiar with the corporates in the SME /MME space and ability to assess various sources of financial/ non-financial data.
- Adequate knowledge of corporates and ability through network to obtain market reference corporate standing.
- Detailed and in-depth understanding of Balance Sheet, P & L and cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of local market, economic and regulatory environment.
- Ability to manage people effectively with good inter-personal skills in a highly challenging and demanding environment.
- Ability to work strictly within deadlines
- Ability to effectively present both in written and verbal manner the credit aspects of the assessment with a rationale for the respective recommendation
- Excellent communication skills, especially ability to present facts and figures related to credit proposals to enable decision making.
