We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Long/Short Equity Research Associate to join our team, focusing on the biotechnology sector. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our investment decisions through comprehensive research and analysis of biotech companies. This role requires a strong understanding of the biotech industry, including drug development, clinical trials, regulatory environments, and market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research on biotech companies, including financial statement analysis, competitive positioning, and industry trends.
- Monitor and analyze key developments in the biotech sector, such as clinical trial results, FDA approvals, mergers and acquisitions, and technological advancements.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to project future company performance and valuation.
- Assist in the development of investment theses and recommendations for long and short positions.
- Prepare and present research reports, investment memos, and other documentation to support investment decisions.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Equity Analyst and Portfolio Manager to identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.
- Attend industry conferences, management meetings, and other events to gather insights and build relationships within the biotech community.
- Continuously monitor portfolio positions and provide timely updates on any material changes or developments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, PhD) or relevant certifications (CFA) preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, consulting, or a related field, with a focus on the biotechnology sector.
- Strong understanding of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, including scientific, regulatory, and commercial aspects.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and quantitative analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
