Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Junior Credit Analyst to join our investment team. This role is focused on event-driven and special situations investing, where you will support senior analysts and portfolio managers in identifying and evaluating credit opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and corporate finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough credit analysis of companies involved in mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, bankruptcies, and other special situations.
- Perform detailed financial statement analysis, including cash flow projections, balance sheet evaluations, and liquidity assessments.
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate the impact of corporate events and assess the creditworthiness of issuers.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments that could impact credit opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of investment memos, presentations, and other documentation to support investment decisions.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and portfolio managers to develop investment theses and identify potential investment opportunities.
- Participate in due diligence processes, including reviewing legal documents, meeting with management teams, and conducting site visits.
- Keep abreast of developments in the credit markets and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant sectors and companies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, CFA) preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in credit analysis, investment banking, consulting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and corporate finance principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
